What was the challenge?

The primary challenge was to design a simple and reliable application that allows artists to create a professional EPK with ease. Most existing solutions were either too rigid or too chaotic, leaving artists uncertain about what is actually expected of them by event organizers. We wanted to bridge the gap between an artist’s need for creative expression and a booking agent’s requirement for standardized, quickly digestible data. The goal was to provide artists with a tool that gives them the security of knowing they are presenting themselves as professional business partners while removing the administrative dread of self-promotion.

Research & Insights

I followed a structured discovery process, starting with a deep dive into the market and existing portfolio tools. To validate the idea, I interviewed six active artists and bookers and conducted a survey with 20 participants to identify initial trends. The research revealed a significant disconnect: while artists find the process of creating a press kit annoying and time-consuming, they also struggle with the fear of appearing unprofessional due to a lack of clarity on industry standards. The most important takeaway from the booking side was that agents don't need "flashy" designs, they need scannability. This insight highlighted that the solution needed to prioritize speed for the artist and clarity for the booker.

Solution

I designed a validated product concept and a high-fidelity prototype based on a scalable component library. To ensure a low barrier to entry, I introduced a clean, easy going onboarding process that guides artists through the setup without overwhelming them.

The core of the solution is a modular system where key data, such as releases, photo links, and live videos are organized into clear, digestible blocks. To address the common challenge of how to write a professional press text, I integrated an AI powered Presstext Assistant. The system proactively asks users if they are struggling with their press text; if so, it guides them through three simple, low pressure questions about their sound, milestones, and experiences. Within seconds, the AI generates a professional draft, transforming a tedious administrative task into a seamless experience.

To maximize utility, I ensured the resulting EPK is easily PDF exportable or sharable as a stagecard link, allowing artists to share their professional profile across different platforms instantly. The final result is a professional builder that empowers musicians to overcome their administrative hurdles and present their work with confidence. All in one place.
